MORROW COUNTY – Morrow County Sheriff’s Corporal Colleen Neubert is the K9 handler for the sheriff and she said that given work and training, she probably spends more time with her dog Telly than with the rest of her family.

Telly has a kennel and a good-sized yard, but she likes her creature comforts.

“She sleeps in the house, so she gets house time too,” Neubert said. “A good chunk of the time I just let her chill, decompress and do Telly things.”

Neubert said one of those “Telly things” is eating breakfast every morning with some pet chickens. She also is a busy dog.

“She’s always up to play,” she said. “She loves running around the yard with her ball and visiting with her chickens. She’s constantly on the go and most of the time needs something to keep her busy.”

Telly is currently competing in the Aftermath K9 grant competition. Votes for dogs in this region can be cast at https://www.aftermath.com/2021-northwest-k9-voting/. Other K9’s participating from this area include Union County and Wasco County. Today is the deadline to vote in the competition which offers $25,000 in K9 grants.
