PENDLETON – Pendleton police responded to a report of a shooting Thursday night at 318 S.E. Ninth Street. Police Chief Chuck Byram reports that the individual who had been shot had been transported by private vehicle to St. Anthony Hospital. Cody J. Fleming, 29, was taken into custody at the scene.
Brian Frank, 36, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Byram said as of Friday morning, Frank’s condition was not known and he was still undergoing treatment. He is the brother of a woman who was involved in a domestic dispute with Fleming.
“An argument ensued between the male resident and several others associated with the female resident, which ultimately resulted in the male resident firing several rounds from a .22-caliber handgun,” Byram stated in a news release. “Several of those rounds struck the brother of the female resident.”
The Oregon State Police and Umatilla Tribal Police assisted at the scene. Fleming is lodged at the Umatilla County Jail on first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon charges.
“To protect the integrity of the case, no further information will be given at this time,” Byram wrote.
