LA GRANDE – Officer’s Jamey Carman, Derek Lizotte and Deputy Brad Bell graduated from the Oregon Basic Police Academy on October 15th. The Basic Police Academy is located in Salem, Oregon and is a 16 week (640 hours) training program. The Police Academy helps develop basic skills in all the disciplines needed for performing patrol work. The training involves classroom, skills and scenario-based training. Besides attending the Police Academy, each LGPD recruit must also complete a 3 to 4 month Field Training Program (On-the-job training) before they can work patrol in a solo status.

The La Grande Police Department is very proud of both Officer Carman and Officer Lizotte and congratulates them on their accomplishment.  The Union County Sheriff’s Department is excited to have Brad Bell on their team.
