Council takes another step towards opening land for housing

PENDLETON – The Pendleton Development Commission meets at 6 tonight (Tuesday) and the Pendleton City Council meeting follows at 7 p.m.

The PDC will vote to approve Blue Mountain Community College Small Business Development Center Director Eric DeLary to join the Jump Start Committee. The commissioners will also hear reports from the advisory, Jump Start and grants committees.

The city council will discuss authorizing a work order for Anderson-Perry related to right-of-way and rough road grade establishment for the connector between Highway 11 and Highway 30, as well as the acquisition of property for a booster station. Letters of commitment have been signed by property owners agreeing to dedicate land and provide property for both the road and the station. The contract with Anderson-Perry is not to exceed $215,000. This is part of the plan to open 250 acres for housing development.

The council will also consider another 12-month contract to engage the services of Eric Smidt as Pendleton UAS Test Range operations services specialist. The proposed contract reflects a three percent increase over the current contract. The contract would be for $108,150. The cost would be offset with new revenue generated from UAS operations and/or CARES Act grant funds. Both meetings are available on Zoom. The meeting ID is 848 8298 2122 and the pass code is 248854.
