PRAIRIE CITY & JOHN DAY – The Grant County Education District has officially found the two Crystal Apple Award winners for this year. Every year the agency recognizes a licensed individual and a classified employee withing the local education system.
District Superintendent Robert Waltenberg noted that they wanted to, “…recognize all school district employees and volunteers, because every single person in our schools helps us to educate kids, but these two rose to the top!”
The Licensed Crystal Apple Award winner is Lindy Cruise from Prairie City High School. The selection committee looked at Mrs. Cruise’s leadership in the school and community, the success of her programs and the overall contribution to the students of Prairie City and Grant County.
The Classified Crystal Apple Award winner is Kim Brown from Grant Union Jr./Sr. High School. District Superintendent wishes to include a quote from one of Ms. Brown’s nominating letters:
Anyone that works with Kim or has worked with her in the past agree she is a very caring and compassionate educator. She has always shown dedication to her job and truly cares about the students she is working with. Kim works easily with all levels of kids. She is compassionate, patient, dedicated, and reliable.
The two winners were congratulated in a letter from the five school districts in the county, as well as the Grant County ESD.
