BURNS, OR-Erik Olson officially became the full-time, permanent director of Harney District Hospital Family Care Clinic.
He took over from Interim Director Darcy Crist who was in the position temporarily until a permanent director was hired.
Erik has a master’s degree in healthcare administration from University of Minnesota, and has been in the field for about 25 years.
Erik moved here from Minnesota where he raised a family for 18 years. Erik decided it was time for a change after 18 years and moved to Butte, Montana.
he was working in Montana, and he received a promotion, when then brought him to Topeka, Kansas.
When working in the health system in Topeka he was sold. Erik and his wife, Kimberlee, decided to open a home care business in Sandy Utah.
“That was a fun and interesting business and a good experience, but it was like you never ‘turned off.’ You kind of had to live it 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” Erik said regarding his home care business.
The Olson’s decided after about 3 years to sell their business and look for other opportunities.
Erik was asked why he chose HDH and he stated “I love the leadership team here.”
He also stated that he was drawn to HDH because it isn’t a part of a big corporate healthcare system.
