PENDLETON – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners has approved spending $7,040 to demolish the detail shop and a modular building on the lot to the east of the courthouse. Board Chairman George Murdock said the commissioners toured the buildings last week and it was clear they had to come down.
“The conditions on that site and in those buildings are so deplorable that we asked not to ever have to go back and visit it again,” he said.
Rod Anderson Construction is demolishing the two buildings. Once they’re gone, the county plans to build a new maintenance and storage facility to replace the one it sold to Oregon Grain Growers to allow its business to expand.
