Human remains found in burned U-Haul north of Burns

BURNS – This past Sunday, a U-Haul was discovered off of HWY 395 near MP33 north of Burns, 2 miles up Little Juniper Rd. The vehicle had burned, and human remains of a man who had been living in the vehicle were located inside. According to Harney County Sheriff Dan Jenkins, OSP was called in and confirmed that they were human remains. It appears the vehicle burned last winter–perhaps snow stopped the spread of the fire. Cause is under investigation. Next of kin will be notified and we will update with any further details when we receive them.
