WALLA WALLA – Port of Walla Walla commissioners voted unanimously to authorize a lease agreement with developer Dax Moreno to construct a RV park in the Walla Walla Regional Business Park on Thursday.

Moreno plans to build a RV park at the corner of Lockheed Avenue and G Street. The site will consist of approximately 40 to 60 spots with power, water and sewer hookups, an aquatic center with full-size pool and pool house, and pickleball courts.

Moreno will hire an engineer to survey and develop official site plans, begin the county permitting process, and be ready to construct in spring or summer. The identified parcel is approximately 8.2 acres and will be further refined with the engineering and survey.

According to the Port of Walla Walla, the monthly land lease revenue is $1,964.55 plus Washington state leasehold tax.

Port of Walla Walla commissioners also unanimously approved a new five-year lease agreement with Walla Walla Drag Strip, LLC for the 15.1 acres of land it uses on the western side of Walla Walla Regional Airport.

The new lease is effective April 1, 2022, for the 2022 racing season and continues through the 2026 racing season with the 2022 daily use rate of $635 for racing and $340 for test-and-tune with yearly increases at two percent or a five-percent of total gross receipts, whichever is greater for each day’s use plus Washington State leasehold tax of 12.84 percent. Before port commissioners voted on renewing the lease, Airport Manager Jennifer Skoglund reminded commissioners that the drag strip does provide a positive fiscal impact to the port and the community.
