WALLA WALLA – An additional person has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a group attack on Prospect Avenue in early July. Carlos R. Johnson Jr., 21, of Pendleton appeared in court Thursday. His bail was set at $150,000 and he is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 7. He is charged with one count of robbery in the first-degree – armed with firearm, three counts of assault in the first degree – armed with firearm, one count of burglary in the first-degree – armed with firearm and one count of criminal mischief. All are felonies.
Johnson allegedly joined a group of accused attackers led by Charles Thompkins Jr., 63, of Pendleton. Thompkins organized a group, which included his three sons, last month to arm themselves and beat up the people he claims stole a vehicle that belonged to him. According to court documents, the group traveled from Pendleton to Walla Walla where shots were fired during a confrontation and a fight broke out which resulted in three people being injured.
Thompkins was arrested Aug. 8 in Walla Walla and is charged with first-degree robbery, three counts of first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, criminal mischief, and harassment. He’s currently being held in the Walla Walla County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
Walla Walla County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jennine Christensen has filed multiple charges on six other males, two of whom are minors, who allegedly were also involved in the attack.
