Pine Eagle Superintendent issues letter about masks and the upcoming school year

HALFWAY – (Letter from Pine Eagle School District Superintendent) “We are excited to be welcoming students back to school on Monday, August 30th!  Last year had many difficulties and many successes because of the teamwork between staff and families.  We are striving to have a strong, positive school year balancing academics, extracurricular activities and the safety of our students and staff.

We have had many questions about what to expect for the coming school year in terms of requirements and mandates.  At this point the Governor has mandated indoor mask use for ages 2 and above.  In response to this mandate we are collaborating with regional Superintendents, Representative Mark Owens, and Senator Lynn Findley advocating for local control through collaboration with the Baker County Health Department.  We are pushing the state to allow districts to make sound safety decisions, whether those decisions involve makes or not, in collaboration with the Baker County Health Department as we continue in-person education.

At this time we continue to be in frequent contact with the Local Health Department and stand ready to address concerns and re responsive if we, or the Local Health Department, feel it necessary to take measures to keep students and staff safe.

Please stay tuned for notices about school registration and information updates through Alma, too!
