PPD arrests knife-wielding man

PENDLETON – Pendleton police arrested Kristopher David Wood, 48, of Kent, Wash., after he allegedly threatened two men with a knife at Brooke RV Park. Chief Chuck Byram said it began when Wood asked two girls at the park to help him look for his lost dog under the Eighth Street Bridge.
“The two juvenile females obviously became concerned about this and contacted the manager of the park who confronted Wood,” he said. “During the confrontation, Wood pulled out a knife and threatened the manager of the park, based on witness statements.”
Byram said another man came to the manager’s aid and was also threatened. That man was legally open-carrying a firearm, but chose not to display it during the incident.
Wood is charged with two counts of felony attempted unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of menacing, one count of second-degree criminal trespass, and one count of second-degree disorderly conduct.
While Wood’s home address is from out of state, Byram said his officers have interacted with him. He was first contacted by police on July 13.
“We do have him flagged as having mental health issues within our system based on our interactions with him,” Byram said.
