WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fair and Frontier Days is working on submitting a grant request to the Washington State Department of Agriculture. In his latest report to the Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners, Fair Manager Greg Lybeck said the fair can submit up to three projects for $250,000. The grant submission must be turned in by October 1.
Lybeck said the fair is looking at power and lighting upgrades for the barns and restrooms under the grandstands, as wells as new fencing along Fourth Avenue and on Ninth Avenue from Orchard Street to Tietan Street.
As for which project will be chosen for grant funding, Lybeck said that decision is solely up to the state Department of Agriculture.
“I believe most of our team feels the barn power and lighting upgrade might be the best project for us to submit,” Lybeck said.
While Lybeck acknowledged the other projects as well, he said he’s leaning toward only submitting one project at this time.
