WALLOWA – The Wallowa County Commissioners are asking residents of Wallowa County and visitors to Wallowa County to stay away from the areas of Promise and Troy to allow the Fire Managers and crew’s unencumbered access to the fire areas. The Commissioners have officially closed Promise Road at end of pavement, Wildcat Road (Wallupa), Powwatka Road, Eden Bench Road, and Troy River Road at the state line, until further notice.

Evacuation level notices have been given to the residents and other people in these areas. Most of the people in the areas have dealt with past fires and are working to protect property, livestock, and equipment.

Citizens are asked not flood the sheriff’s office with unnecessary calls seeking information that can be found on the https://bluemountainfire.com or https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/ sites. These sites are updated daily.
