CANYON CITY, OR – The Painted Sky Center for the Arts has announced the nonprofit organization has recently received grant funding from the Oregon Community Foundation, dedicated to youth art programs this summer. Volunteer Kim Randleas says the $47,000 grant is the largest the organization has yet received, and has enabled them to hire a Youth Programs Supervisor—Ryan McNabb.
McNabb said, “With the youth arts, we’re trying to bring in different types of art so they can all explore their different preferences to how they want to investigate life.”
He said there are several camps the kids can get involved in, and a schedule is available on their website— https://paintedskycenterforthearts.wildapricot.org/
Kim Randleas also mentioned the new funding has helped them to purchase outdoor movie equipment:
“We have five movies planned for the park in Canyon City. We’re showing new movies that the teens will like…we’re integrating some learning right into the movies. So let’s say, before they get there, Ryan has helped us pick out some really engaging, thoughtful documentaries to show before the movies. We’ll have some booths where they’ll have the opportunity to do some STEM activities or some art on the side.”
