PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council meets tonight (Tuesday) at 7. A public hearing is scheduled on a proposed shopping cart ordinance, dealing with abandoned carts.
That ordinance will establish a process for clearing the carts as well as set a timeline for businesses to pick up the carts. It was written at the request of Police Chief Chuck Byram.
The council will have the first reading of an amendment to the city’s resting ordinance to bring it into line with new state regulations. It would give those who leave property behind 72 hours to reclaim it instead of the city’s limit of 24 hours.
The council will also learn about a proposed five-year lease for the Oregon State Police building on Airport Road and will hear about a possible grant for building a bus barn for city transit vehicles near the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport.
The meeting can be accessed via Zoom. The ID is 848 8298 2122 and the pass code is 248854.
