ONTARIO – (Release from the Ontario Police Department) The City of Ontario Police Department will be conducting a “Zero Tolerance” approach for possession and use of illegal fireworks during the upcoming Independence Day holiday. The police department would like to encourage all community members to reduce the risk involved in the use of both legal and illegal fireworks, by strictly obeying all local, state, and federal laws. Through community cooperation and enforcement by the local police and fire department, we will keep our community safe and enjoy the holiday together, as a community.
Please take notice of the following ordinances and laws that will be enforced prior to, during, and after the holiday. Penalties range from $100.00 (One Hundred) up to $2,500.00 (Two Thousand- Five Hundred) for each violation.

ORS 480.165 (Civil penalty for fireworks law violations)
