JOSEPH, OR – Josephy Center for the Arts and Culture in Wallowa County received some exciting news.  Not only has the center become owners of their own building, but the Josephy Center has received a sizable grant and funds from the state lottery.

The Ford Family Foundation granted the Josephy Center $230,000 to help with much needed accessibility renovations.  This money will cover the cost of the elevator, wheelchair ramps, ADA bathrooms, a special sound system for those who have a hard time hearing and more.

The Josephy Center was just informed that they will be receiving $600,000 from the Oregon State Lottery funds.  The funds will be used for the expansion and renovation of their newly purchased building.

As you may remember, the capital campaign was one of eleven art related capital projects in Oregon chosen to be endorsed by the Cultural Advocacy Coalition.  Just a week after completing Phase I of the capital campaign for the purchase and repair of our building, the staff is already nearly half way to Phase II for the expansion of classrooms and workspaces.

“Because the Josephy Center is now a permanent part of Wallowa County, we’re in it for the long haul and can keep growing slowly and steadily with our amazing community,  thank you again for making this happen”, said the staff of the Josephy Center for the Arts and Culture.
