Cooling Stations are open to provide relief

LA GRANDE – With the temperatures in the 100’s this week, the Union County Warm Station has opened their doors as a Cooling Station. The Cooling Station will be open as long as the temperatures continue to be above 90’s. The location of the Cooling Station is 2008 3rd Street in La Grande. Other Cooling Stations are located at the First Presbyterian Church (1308 Washington Ave), Faith Center (10208 South D Street & 211 Fir Street) Community Connection (1504 N Albany Street), United Methodist Church (612 Fourth Street) and Community Kindness (1315 Adams Ave) all in La Grande.
According to the Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce, there are no Cooling Stations in place that have been announced.
Baker County Library District branches in Baker City, Haines, Halfway, Huntington, Richland, and Sumpter are available as extreme heat cooling centers during their regular business hours.
