Council to vote on new street name

HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council meets at 7 p.m. today (Monday) at the Hermiston Community Center. Topping the agenda is a public hearing and a vote on making changes in the city’s system development charges.
Those are one-time fees paid by new construction within the city. Hermiston hired a consulting firm to study and recommend changes to the development fees.
The council will consider a proposal to name the new street in South Hermiston Industrial Park East Cook Avenue. The name is intended to honor Ivan Cook and Vernon Cook who city staff feel have been instrumental in Hermiston’s industrial development.
There are a limited number of chairs available at the community center. The meeting is also streamed live on Hermiston’s YouTube channel.
