PENDLETON – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners approved three contracts for preliminary work on the central pipeline project west of Hermiston at its administrative meeting Wednesday morning.
“We approved a contract to IRZ Consulting for engineering services, to Campbell Environmental for environmental services, and to GSI Water Solutions for soil characterization studies,” Murdock said.
The total for those contracts is at about $1 million. Murdock said the board is committing a total of $2 million in American Rescue Act funds to keep the ball rolling on the pipeline. When it will be completed is out of the county’s hands.
“When we have it flowing depends on what kind of help we get from the Oregon Legislature,” Murdock said. “Plus we have two legislators at the federal level who are really actively helping us.”
Murdock said county officials remain optimistic that the funding for the $13 million project will be realized.
