Fritsch explains evaluation process

PENDLETON – The Pendleton School District Board of Directors went into executive session at its Monday night meeting to evaluate the performance of Superintendent Chris Fritsch.
He says that actually his evaluation is a long-term process involving his goals and his achievements throughout each year. Fritsch was told earlier this year that the board wants to renew his contract. At the last meeting, the superintendent said he first ranks himself to the directors in a total of nine categories.
“Then, I leave the room and they have a private conversation amongst themselves,” Fritsch said. “Then they come up with a final rating for each category and I’ll get an overall rating as well.”
Fritsch said that the board also has input from stakeholders during the rating process, which is almost at an end for the 2020-2021 school year.
“Chair Debbie McBee will write up a final summative evaluation for this school year,” he said. “Then, she and I will both sign off on that. That’s what goes into my personnel file.”
