PENDLETON – Jessey James Thomas O’Quinn, 25, of La Grande was arrested by Pendleton police officers Sunday after he allegedly threatened a person with a handgun.
Police Chief Chuck Byram said that police were alerted to a domestic dispute inside O’Quinn’s vehicle from residents in the 200 block of Southwest Ninth Street. One resident reported that he approached the vehicle to ensure that the female was safe.
“It was reported that the male inside the vehicle produced a handgun and pointed it at the neighborhood resident who approached to check on the female,” Byram wrote in a news release.
The vehicle left Southwest Ninth Street, but Byram said a patrol officer located it in the Walmart parking lot. They took O’Quinn into custody on charges of felony unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, unlawful possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm at another, and second-degree disorderly conduct.
A loaded handgun was recovered inside the vehicle. The female passenger inside the vehicle was not charged with any crimes. Byram said the PPD case against O’Quinn has been forwarded to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office.
