JOSEPH, OR – Volunteers with the Wallowa Mountains Hells Canyon Trails Association (WMHCTA) worked with National Forest staff to build a beautiful new bridge across BC Creek near Wallowa Lake. The bridge provides access to the scenic to Chief Joseph Mountain Trail (#1803).
Most of the material for this single-beam bridge was locally sourced…from a Douglas fir that was growing right next to the creek! This tree had previously been severely damaged during a flood.
