PENDLETON – Blue Mountain Community College has named its top three candidates following a national search for a new president. Each finalist will be coming to Pendleton next week for a full day of interviews and forums. Faculty, staff, students, the BMCC Board of Education will be involved. Community members throughout the college’s network are invited to participate in Zoom forums from 5:20-6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Mark Browning, currently the vice president for college relations at the College of Western Idaho in Nampa will be Monday’s visitor. He is currently earning a doctorate of education degree from the University of Idaho. The Zoom ID is 995 2566 0347.
Carmen Simone will be on campus Tuesday. She is the president of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff. She has held several president, vice president, and provost roles at two- and four-year colleges throughout the West. The Zoom ID is 945 6355 1006.
Christopher Villa is the Wednesday visitor. He was the president of the Rock Creek Campus for Portland Community College until 2020, when PCC eliminated campus presidents. He has more than 35 years in higher education. The Zoom ID is 975 5703 8222. The BMCC Presidential Search Committee is expected to make a recommendation to the board soon after next week’s interviews. The goal is to reach a decision next month.
