PENDLETON – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners held a meeting last month and it’s noteworthy because the commissioners did not participate in a virtual meeting.
“It was the first time that the commissioners were in the same room in a meeting in over a year,” Commissioner John Shafer said. “It was kind of nice.”
Also attending in person were the county’s legal counsel and finance director. It was also a big first for Commissioner Dan Dorran, who took office in January.
“It was the first time Commissioner Dorran was in the same room with the rest of us, so it was kind of a double whammy for him,” Commissioner John Shafer said.
Others who participated in the meeting did so virtually. The commissioners meet again this morning at 9 a.m. and topping the agenda is a public hearing on the budget for the coming fiscal year.
