IMESD schools face fall with optimism

PENDLETON – The Oregon Department of Education will determine what the coming K-12 school year will hold. As local administrators await the state guidance, InterMountain Education Service District Superintendent Mark Mulvihill said the outlook among his member districts is one of optimism.

“We are going as hard as we can to be normal,” he said. “I think we’re going to be in-person all day, K-12. We’re going to have normal activities like football, cross country, and band.”

Meanwhile, Mulvihill said that the state guidance should be issued soon and hopefully answer some important questions.

“Are we still going to have a masking requirement,” he queried. “Are we still going to have a distancing requirement?”
