COLLEGE PLACE — The College Place City Council has a public hearing scheduled on applying for a community development block grant to create a parking lot in the downtown area at its meeting tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m.
The state of Washington has released a call for the CDBG program. The competitive grants would be primarily for the area around College Avenue from Rose Street to 13th Street. The grant would fund a study to find the best location for a municipally owned parking lot downtown. After the hearing, the council will vote on whether to apply for the grant.
Also up for discussion is reopening the lobbies for city hall and the police department. A COVID-19 Reopening Committee has been formed to make sure everything is in place to meet the state requirements. The lobbies have been closed for more than a year.
The meeting will be streamed on the city’s YouTube channel. It is also available via Zoom with the meeting ID of 953 6025 6852.
