Council to consider final plat for subdivision

HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council and Urban Renewal Agency gathers at 7 tonight (Monday) and topping the agenda is a vote to approve the final plat of the Highland Meadows subdivision.

The plat creates 19 lots, 18 of which will be used for single-family homes. The remaining large lot will be held for future development. It’s estimated the homes will be priced between $250,000 and $350,000.

The council will discuss the best uses of American Rescue Plan funds from the federal government due to the pandemic. The city is due to receive $3.6 million directly in two equal payments. The first payment should arrive in the middle of June, with the second coming one year later. The funding must be spent by the end of 2024.

The council will also vote on adopting a 20-year master plan for the city’s 77-mile-long sewer collection system. A public hearing planned for this meeting regarding a senior living cluster has been postponed until May 24.

The meeting at the Hermiston Community Center will have a few chairs available for the masked public. The meeting will be live streamed on Hermiston’s YouTube channel.
