PENDLETON – All three Pendleton School Board members whose terms expire soon are not running for reelection, leaving three seats up for new board members. One of those races, the Position 7 seat, has two candidates on the ballot. Briana Spencer is running, as is Patrick Gregg.
If Spencer wins, she will need to decide whether to serve on the board or remain as a candidate-elect for the Nixyaawii Community School Board. It wasn’t until after the filing deadline passed that the Pendleton School District learned from legal counsel that a person isn’t allowed to serve as a voting member on both a district board and a charter school board within the district.
Three candidates have declared for the Position 4 seat. They are Preston Eagleheart, Joey GrosJacques and Chris Garrigues.
Running for Position 1 are Beth Harrison and Rodney Thompson. Ballots for the May primary go in the mail on April 28. Retiring from the board are Steve Umbarger (Position 1), Gary George (Position 4), and Debbie McBee (Position 7).
