HEPPNER – Morrow County will be the scene of a mass vaccination operation that will begin Monday and continue through April 13. The number of vaccinations given each day will depend on the supplies. Morrow County Commissioner Melissa Lindsay said the event is due to partnering local health officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Oregon Health Authority.
“It’s really great that FEMA and the OHA have stepped forward with the health districts and the Port of Morrow just in getting this set up and getting these vaccines out,” Lindsay said.
The single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be given. Health insurance is not required, but those with insurance are asked to bring their cards. No appointments are needed. In addition, eligibility requirements for county residents and workers will be somewhat relaxed.
“Technically, we’re in Group 7 of eligibility, but I’m told being a pilot project that anyone 18 or older can qualify and will not be turned away,” Lindsay said.
