WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla police detectives have arrested a teenager in connection with a stabbing that occurred over the weekend. A juvenile male was found laying on the ground in the vicinity of Park and Whitman streets Saturday night. He told responding officers he had been stabbed during an altercation and that the suspects had driven away.
Witnesses told investigators that several under-age teens agreed to meet at Sharpstein Elementary School so they could fight. During the fight, the victim decided to flee, and at that time, he was stabbed.
The victim was treated by medics from the Walla Walla Fire Department and transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center for further care. Investigators picked up the juvenile Monday and lodged him at the Juvenile Justice Center.
Walla Walla Police Public Information Officer Gunner Fulmer reports that Sharpstein School was closed at the time of the incident. The altercation is not connected with Walla Walla Public Schools in any way other than it occurred at Sharpstein.
