PENDLETON – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners held a special meeting Tuesday at the Umatilla County Courthouse in Pendleton to award a contract for much-needed work on Umatilla River Road on the west end. Chairman George Murdock said it he’s glad a local firm came out on top.
“The winning bidder was Silver Creek Contracting,” he said. Their bid was $269,570. The matching share from the county will be about 10.27 percent.”
Murdock said the competition among the bidders was obvious.
“The people reviewing the bids said they couldn’t remember when they had seen bids that were that tight,” Murdock said. “They were also delighted to have six different bidders.”
Public Works Director Tom Fellows said most of the work on the road will be between 11th Street and Bensel Road.
