WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department battled two fires over the weekend. No injuries were reported in the house fire Saturday and the garage fire Sunday.
The Saturday blaze was at a one-story home on the 600 block of West Moore Street. When firefighters arrived on the scene it was estimated that about 50 percent of the structure was involved in the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The blaze was brought under control less than 45 minutes after crews began. It’s estimated the damage is $30,000.
Walla Walla County Fire District 4 provided mutual aid at the fire. The Sunday blaze was a garage fire in the 1400 block of East Sumach Street that was reported at 1:06 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the detached garage was fully engulfed with flames. It was ruled under control at 1:24 a.m. The cause of the fire was a wood stove. Damage to the property is estimated at $11,000.
