HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council will review bids for a package of construction projects at its meeting today (Monday) at 7 p.m. The main project in the package is to rebuild city hall on its existing site.
When complete, city hall will house the Building Permit Department and the Hermiston Municipal Court, which will free up space in the Hermiston Public Safety Center. Additional projects in the package include realigning and rebuilding the parking lot between Banner Bank and city hall, and replacing two blocks of aging water and sewer lines under the alley between Main Street and Gladys Avenue.
The low bid for the project, which is recommended for acceptance by city staff, is from Griffin Construction in The Dalles. It is for $8.66 million, which is slightly lower than the engineer’s estimate of $$8.97 million.
Also on the agenda, the council will consider annexing 13.8 acres of land at 1307 Southwest Third Street to make way for a single-family subdivision. The council will also hear a report that a special election will be held on March 9 for Ward IV. Phillip Spicerkuhn, who was appointed to the seat, is running for election.
