PENDLETON – The Pendleton Development Commission has issued its 2021 building occupancy rate for the downtown area. The occupancy rate from Southwest Sixth to Southeast Sixth streets is 89 percent
“We’re actually higher than we’ve historically been,” Mayor John Turner said. “Historically, we’re somewhere around 86 or 87 percent.”
The occupancy rate for Main Street is also an improvement, at 85 percent. It was 84 percent in the surveys taken in 2018 and 2019. That was a drop from being at 91 percent in 2016 and 2017. City Manager Robb Corbett said that 85 percent is still much better than many other cities.
“Take that occupancy rate and compare it to occupancy rates all over the state of Oregon,” he said. “I would have to say that we rank right up near the top.”
