LA GRANDE – Union County Clerk Robin Church swore in Cody Bowen as Union County Sheriff Monday. Bowen thanked the citizens for the tremendous and humbling amount of support he and his family have received over the past year. Bowen said thank you to the amazing people that helped with the campaign and gave direction navigating the political end of things. “I recognize that this would not have happened without you.”
Bowen went on and said, “I put my name in the running for Sheriff back in early February with nothing more than a heartfelt urge to step up and do the right thing. I felt there were a lot of people, including myself facing uncertainty and looking for someone to stand up and be a leader. I took an oath to be your Sheriff and to stand up for you the citizen and your constitutional rights, so help me God. I will not let you down.”
“Your Sheriff’s Office is filled with an amazing group of men and women”, Bowen went on and said, “and who works hard day in and day out to make Union County a safer place to live. Together as a team, the deputies, office staff and I look forward to providing Union County with the most professional, transparent and community involved Sheriff’s Office possible. As your Sheriff I will be available, involved and truly vested in our community.”
