CANYON CITY, BURNS – Today is the first day of office for many newly-elected officials. Swearing-in ceremonies were held in both Grant and Harney Counties this morning. Sheriff Todd McKinley, Treasurer Julie Ellison, Assessor David Thunnell and County Surveyor Mike Springer each took their oaths in the Grant County Courthouse.
24th Judicial District Judge Rob Raschio was sworn in at the Harney County Courthouse. The Honorable William Cramer led the ceremony, and gave this advice to the officials:
“…make that right decision and just have the courage to follow through with it, because there will be times for each one of you where the decision may not be popular. That’s just part of the responsibility of stepping into these offices.”
