BAKER CITY– A total of 860 lightbulbs were given away free to Oregon Trail Electric Coop members yesterday in two hours at OTEC offices in Baker, Union, Grant and Harney Counties. This was part of an effort for the member-owned cooperative to teach the value of energy-efficiency.  The ENERGY STAR rated LED lightbulbs that OTEC handed out use at least 75% less energy and can last 25 times longer than incandescent lightbulbs. Joe Hathaway, OTEC’s Communications Manager says that they are already working on ordering more for another giveaway in the near future.
