HARNEY COUNTY-Harney District Hospital Emergency Medical Services (HDH EMS), Burns Fire/Rescue, Hines Fire/Rescue, Harney County Search & Rescue, and Harney County Sheriffโ€™s Office participated in a multi-agency remote rescue training on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The training was approximately 6 hours long and included 17 personnel across the five local agencies. Participants learned patient packaging in adverse terrain, mountain rescue techniques, technical rope rescue techniques, and patient care/management in harsh environmental conditions.

The training was co-taught by HDH Interim EMS Chief Kyle Snider and Josh Norris of Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit (CMRU). Norris shared the mountain and rope rescue knowledge that he gained from his many years of experience with CMRU and other technical rescue teams around the state. This training will help our local first responders be more prepared to respond to rescue needs in Harney Countyโ€™s mountainous terrain. This is yet another great example of how well our local first responders collaborate to serve our community!

โ€œI am super happy with how this training went,โ€ Interim EMS Chief Snider said. โ€œWe will likely host more in the future because the feedback was very positive!โ€
