PENDLETON – Bail was set at $5 million for a Battle Ground, Washington, man who crashed a Dodge Durango at exit 207 on Interstate 84 on Thursday.

Cullen Derr, 38, faces multiple charges of felony assault, along with misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving. As of Monday morning, he remained in the Umatilla County Jail.

The passengers in the vehicle, a 24-year-old woman, a 15-year-old male and a 9-month-old infant were ejected from the vehicle, which caught fire after the crash, and all four of the vehicles occupants were transported to a local hospital. The three passengers sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospitals in Oregon and Washington for advanced medical care.

A probable cause hearing for Derr is scheduled for Friday.
