$5M bail set for driver in Thursday crash at exit 207 in Pendleton

PENDLETON – Bail was set at $5 million for a Battle Ground, Washington, man who crashed a Dodge Durango at exit 207 on Interstate 84 on Thursday.

Cullen Derr, 38, faces multiple charges of felony assault, along with misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving. As of Monday morning, he remained in the Umatilla County Jail.

Derr, a 24-year-old woman, and a 9-month-old infant were ejected from the vehicle, which caught fire after the crash. The woman and infant sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospitals in Oregon and Washington for advanced care.

A probable cause hearing for Derr is scheduled for Friday.
