ONTARIO/VALE –The Oregon Department of Corrections reports that the Open Minds of the Community Club (OMCC) at Snake River Correctional Institution recently hosted what they called a “Beef Frenzy” fundraiser and provided funding toward the battle against local food insecurity. The agency stated that OMCC members served meals that “included a ½ lb. Angus beef patty, two 6” all-beef kielbasa sausages, along with three chocolate chip cookies.”

Efforts from the event brought in around $500, which was donated by OMCC to the Vale Food Pantry. Club members presented a check to the pantry in January to “support the pantry’s vital work in providing food, clothing, and shelter to those in need.”
