4.9 earthquake strikes Idaho, felt in Eastern Oregon

SMITHS FERRY, Idaho – The United State Geological Survey (USGS) confirms a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck near Smiths Ferry, Idaho on the morning of Monday, February 26.

The quake struck about 5 miles below the surface.

There have been no reports of any damage, but Elkhorn Media Group staff in Baker City report feeling the ground shake for several seconds. Other people report feeling the quake in Ontario.
