$3K scholarship deadlines near for Baker County students

BAKER COUNTY — $3,000 scholarships are available for Baker County graduating seniors looking to pursue further education in the behavioral health and/or social science fields. The Baker County Safe Communities Coalition recently shared that the $3,000 opportunities are offered by New Directions Northwest, Inc. through the “You Matter” scholarship program, now in its fourth year.  

Scholarship applications are due April 3, 2026. BCSCC noted, “If you’re passionate about helping others and making a difference in your community, this opportunity is for you.”

According to the scholarship application documents, “New Directions Northwest, Inc. is a non-profit organization that specializes in helping people with alcohol, drug and gambling addictions, mental health, developmental disabilities, and prevention services to individuals from Baker County, and throughout the state of Oregon.”

Three $3,000 scholarships will be awarded.

The following criteria are required to apply:

  1.  2026 Graduating Senior from a Baker County High School
  2.  Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
  3. Individuals majoring in the social science or behavioral health field.
  4. Preferences given to:
    a.  Individuals that have demonstrated volunteer work within their community
    b.  Individuals that have lived experience(s), either personally or within extended family.
