BAKER CITY – (Information from the Oregon State Police) At approximately 8:20 A.M. on September 20, a semi-truck Westbound on I-84 lost control while attempting to pass a car near Milepost 309, just Southeast of Baker City. The truck crashed into the guardrail and continued Westbound before coming to a stop, causing damage to a roughly 370ft span of guardrail. The Oregon State Police issued the following description of the incident.
“The driver of a white 2017 Volvo Tractor CMV (Tractor/semi-trailer combo) towing an Amazon trailer, was traveling westbound on 184 in the B lane. The CMV was attempting to pass a passenger car by changing lanes and entering the A lane approaching a right curve. The driver of the CMV lost control, for an unknown reason, and exited the roadway by way of the inside shoulder. The CMV crashed into the guardrail and continued to travel westbound along the guardrail. The CMV came to an uncontrolled rest on the inside shoulder, sitting upright and straddling the guardrail. Approximately 370 ft of guardrail was damaged during the crash. No injuries were reported by the CMV driver or the Co-driver of the CMV. The A lane was closed by ODOT to remove the CMV. Blue Mountain towing removed the CMV from the crash scene.”
