BAKER COUNTY – This past holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year the Baker County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Oregon Impact to conduct extra patrols aimed at getting impaired drivers off the road. Deputies participated in 5 overtime shifts, which resulted in 31 traffic stops and 1 DUII arrest.
The Baker County Sheriff’s office reminds citizens that drunk driving fatalities are preventable, and drivers must remember that driving impaired by any substance — drugs or alcohol — is deadly, illegal, and selfish behavior. If you feel impaired by any substance, do not get behind the wheel of a vehicle.
