2nd Street closed and no water in some areas

LA GRANDE – La Grande Public Works will be completing work on the water main on 2nd Street (Jefferson Avenue to Washington Avenue) Monday, April 5, 2021 and Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Crews will close 2nd Street (Jefferson Avenue to Adams Avenue) on Monday at 8 am, and the street will remain closed until the work on the water main has been completed.
Crews will be performing excavation and site preparation for the work on the water main on Monday. The work on the water main will begin at 8 am on Tuesday morning, and is anticipated to take about 9-hours. Water to residences that face 2nd Street on the blocks between Jefferson Avenue and Washington Avenue will be without water during this time on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The roadway will be closed during the project, but will be reopened to traffic upon completion.
Plan on alternative routes for commuters on these days and refrain from parking vehicles on the project streets while the work is being completed. Drivers will be detoured either east or west on Jefferson Avenue (when heading south on 2nd Street) during the project. Adams Avenue will remain open thought the project.
