25 Years later there are still no answers regarding the disappearance of Leona Kinsey of La Grande

LA GRANDE – Today marks the 25th Anniversary of the disappearance of Leona Kinsey of La Grande, Oregon.

According to the La Grande Police Department (LGPD), “Leona was reported missing from La Grande on October 25th, 1999.

At the time of her disappearance, Kinsey “left behind all her personal belongings including her purse, cigarettes, lighter, pager and her beloved pets- a cat and two dogs.”

Leona was 5’2”, weighed approximately 110 lbs, and had brown hair and brown eyes.  She also wore glasses.

In a story we brought you in May of 2023, it was noted that some of Leona’s closest friends said, “she was heavily involved in the sell and use of illicit drugs and owed unknown drug dealers money, which is the suspected reason for her disappearance.”

The LGPD has received assistance from the Oregon State Police, the FBI and the Bureau of Indian Affairs and continue to follow up on leads when they occur, looking into all possibilities of Leona’s disappearance.

LGPD is hopeful that someone knows something that can help us solve this case and bring closure to Leona’s family.

Lieutenant Jason Hays with the La Grande Police Department says, “I have been working this case for a long time and still hopeful someone will come forward with information that may assist in finding out what happened to Leona”
