On the morning of September 24th near 11:27 am, the body of Luke Litwiller was recovered by search team members from Magone Lake.
Mr. Litwiller had gone missing on the afternoon of the 23rd while out for a solo swim.
I would like to thank all the members of the community that came forward with boats and volunteered their time searching, as well as the various agencies that participated in this recovery effort.
Many came together to help this affected family gain some closure to this tragic event.

On the afternoon of September 23rd, near 3:30 pm, a call reporting a missing, presumed drowned individual was made to the Grant County Emergency Communication Center.
[Preliminary] information [indicates] that a 24-year-old male was swimming alone in Magone Lake and was last seen about mid-way across the lake.
Multiple agencies responded, and after an immediate search of the area, it was determined the individual had not exited the water.
It is known that he was working at the Long Creek fire camp as a contractor. No name will be released until family notifications have been made.
