2022 VFW Post 4060 graduating high school student scholarship

UNION – (Information provided by the Union VFW) VFW Post 4060 is committed to furthering education and training beyond high school to help a skilled, educated workforce for the future health of our communities. Scholarship programs are one of the ways to support our local communities. These scholarship programs also fulfill one of the VFW’s Core Values: commitment to Community, Youth and    Americanism.Your local VFW is making a difference in the lives of our members, their families, and our communities. This scholarship is for graduating high school students.

Two $1,000.00 VFW scholarships will be awarded under the following guidelines:

•Applicant must be enrolled in a qualified Public or Home School Program in Union County.

•Applicant is required to submit three (3) letters of recommendation, including two (2) academic letters of recommendation.

•Applicant will have successfully held at least a part-time job, summer job, internship, or a regular volunteer position during the past year and include submission of a supervisor’s recommendation letter in addition to the two letters required above.

•Applicant will complete and submit the VFW’s Scholarship Application per the instructions for the program by the published deadline, doing so without errors or omissions.

•Transcripts and/or letters of recommendations must be submitted along with the application, on or before the deadline.

•Applicant must demonstrate a coherent degree or trade school plan and willingness to pursue a course of higher learning or trade skills.

•Scholarships will be granted to attend full time accredited trade school, college, or university programs.

•Scholarships will be paid at the beginning of the school year upon verification of enrollment.

•Disbursement will be either directly to the learning institution or the student per the instructions on the award certificate.

•Students may change learning institutions prior to the disbursement, if the change is in line with the objectives stated in the original application.
